We are currently hiring Structured Cable Technicians to work on commercial voice and data installation projects, including work in data centers and low-voltage security systems. Job Responsibilities

Installation and Setup

• Install, terminate, and test Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, and fiber optic cables in commercial environments and data centers.
• Route and secure cables using proper cable management techniques, ensuring a clean and professional finish.
• Perform cable dressing to maintain organized and visually appealing cable infrastructure.
• Install network hardware, including patch panels, racks, cabinets, and conduits.
• Conduct labeling and documentation of all installed cables and components for future maintenance and upgrades.

Testing and Troubleshooting

• Test all installed cables using industry-standard tools (e.g., Fluke testers) to ensure performance and compliance with standards.
• Diagnose and repair connectivity issues, ensuring minimal disruption to client operations.

Low-Voltage Security Work

• Assist with the installation and configuration of low-voltage security systems, including access control, CCTV, and alarm systems.
• Run and terminate security system cables while adhering to safety and client specifications.
• Collaborate with security project teams to ensure seamless integration with existing infrastructure.

Compliance and Standards

• Adhere to all BICSI, TIA/EIA, NEC, and OSHA standards for structured cabling and low-voltage installations.
• Follow all site-specific safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a secure work environment.

Communication and Coordination

• Work closely with project managers, site supervisors, and other team members to ensure installations are completed on schedule and to client specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to guide installation and troubleshooting efforts.
• Provide regular updates on project progress and address any challenges proactively.

Maintenance and Documentation

• Maintain tools, equipment, and inventory in excellent working condition.
• Complete and submit detailed documentation for all completed installations and testing results.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a structured cabling technician, including commercial and data center environments.
• Strong understanding of structured cabling systems, including Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, and fiber optics.
• Experience with cable dressing and proper cable management techniques.
• Familiarity with low-voltage security systems, including access control and CCTV installations.

Preferred Certifications

• BICSI Certification (Installer 1 or higher) is highly desirable.
• Fiber Optic Certification (ETA FOI or equivalent) is a plus.
• OSHA 10 or 30 certification for workplace safety.

Skills and Competencies

• Proficiency with testing and diagnostic tools such as Fluke testers.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work on ladders or in confined spaces.
• Comfortable working in diverse environments, including active construction sites and data centers.
