What You’ll Do as a Lead Fire Alarm Technician
As a Lead Fire Alarm Technician at Prime Partners, you’ll be at the forefront of ensuring safety and reliability in our fire alarm systems across large-scale commercial projects in West Valley City, UT. This role is essential to our multi-year developments, and you will play a pivotal part in maintaining safety standards and efficiency. Our projects stretch beyond West Valley City, reaching into neighboring areas such as Taylorsville, Kearns, West Jordan, and Magna, UT. Your expertise will not only keep our projects running smoothly but also ensure compliance with all safety standards.
Your Daily Tasks as a Lead Fire Alarm Technician
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include leading fire alarm installations from the initial pre-wire stages through to final inspections. You will program fire alarm control panels (FACPs), initiate and notification devices, and networked systems to ensure full functionality. A major part of your role will involve overseeing point-to-point testing, conducting NFPA 72 compliance inspections, and managing final acceptance testing with AHJs.
Additionally, you will be responsible for training and mentoring junior technicians, delegating tasks efficiently, and supervising quality control to ensure the highest standards are met. Collaboration is key, and you will work closely with general contractors, project managers, and fire marshals to ensure code compliance and adherence to project timelines. Preparing as-builts and maintaining detailed installation records for turnover packages will also be part of your routine.
You’ll handle advanced troubleshooting and system upgrades, ensuring systems remain up-to-date and functional. Other common daily activities include conducting regular safety meetings and ensuring all crew members are equipped with the necessary tools and knowledge to perform their duties safely and effectively.
What You Need to Be a Lead Fire Alarm Technician
To excel in this role, you should have extensive experience with commercial fire alarm systems, including familiarity with brands such as EST, Notifier, Silent Knight, and Fire-Lite. While a NICET Level II certification or higher is preferred, expert knowledge of NFPA 70 and 72 is essential. You should be comfortable reading complex electrical schematics and construction drawings, with a proven track record of strong leadership skills and team coordination experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must, as is the ability to manage crews and interact with inspectors and clients effectively.
We are looking for candidates with at least 5+ years of field experience as a Lead Fire Alarm Technician. Must-have skills include hands-on abilities in installation, troubleshooting, and system upgrades.
Compensation
