What You’ll Do as a Journeyman Electrician

Your daily work will involve hands-on tasks, collaboration, and leadership, ensuring that the electrical systems we install meet the highest standards.
Your Daily Tasks as a Journeyman Electrician
As a Journeyman Electrician, you’ll start your day by reviewing blueprints and project plans to understand the day’s objectives. You’ll be responsible for installing and maintaining commercial electrical systems, which include switchgear, transformers, lighting fixtures, and power circuits. Your expertise in accurately measuring, cutting, and bending conduit (EMT, rigid) is crucial for precise system installations.
You’ll perform wire pulling, labeling, and termination, always ensuring that connections are neat and secure. Troubleshooting will be a regular part of your work, using tools like multimeters to diagnose and resolve electrical issues, ensuring all circuits meet NEC code requirements. Collaboration is key, so you’ll work closely with other trades to plan and execute electrical installations within the project schedule.
Supervising apprentices will also be part of your day, providing guidance on proper techniques and safety practices. Keeping the job site organized and clean, adhering to all safety and operational standards, is essential. Additional daily activities include inspecting and testing systems and equipment, responding to service calls, and maintaining records of work performed.
What You Need to Be a Journeyman Electrician
To excel in this role, you must hold a valid journeyman electrician license and have an in-depth knowledge of NEC codes. Proficiency with conduit bending and electrical tools is essential, along with strong troubleshooting skills. Leadership abilities are necessary to manage apprentices and collaborate effectively with teams.
We require 3-5 years of field experience as a Journeyman Electrician. Must-have skills include the ability to read and interpret blueprints, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a strong commitment to safety and quality. Your hands-on abilities in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems will be put to the test and appreciated.
Compensation
