Apprentice Electrician Position Overview
Being an Apprentice Electrician on our team means diving into a world of electrical systems and solutions. Your day-to-day responsibilities include supporting our journeyman and foreman electricians, installing conduit, pulling wires, and connecting electrical devices in various commercial environments. Projects range from office buildings and retail spaces to educational facilities and healthcare centers. You’ll work under expert supervision, within a structured team environment that encourages learning and growth. Core Apprentice Electrician Responsibilities
- Assist journeyman and foreman electricians with the installation of conduit, wire pulls, electrical panels, lighting, and devices in commercial buildings.
- Learn to read and interpret blueprints, electrical diagrams, and NEC codes to ensure accurate and efficient project execution.
- Help install temporary power systems, maintain clean and safe job sites, and ensure all electrical installations comply with safety standards.
- Operate hand tools, ladders, and power tools under supervision, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Pull, label, and route wire through conduit and raceways, ensuring proper identification and organization.
- Learn and apply safety protocols, including proper PPE use and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Advanced Technical Duties: Assist in the installation of advanced lighting control systems and support in the setup of emergency power systems.
- Regional Project Specifics: Participate in the installation of energy-efficient systems in new commercial buildings in the Irving area and assist in retrofitting older systems in Carrollton and Arlington.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Basic understanding of electrical tools, materials, and safety practices.
- Strong work ethic, punctuality, and a willingness to learn from senior team members.
- Physical ability to lift 50 lbs and work on ladders or elevated surfaces.
- Enrollment in or interest in joining an electrical apprenticeship program is a plus.
- 2-5 years minimum experience as an Apprentice Electrician.
- Essential Certifications: OSHA 10-Hour Safety Certification, Basic Fire Alarm Installation Certification.
- Required Technical Knowledge: Understanding of electrical theory, proficiency in the use of multimeters and other testing equipment.
Tools & Equipment
- Daily Tools: Conduit benders, wire strippers, multimeters, voltage testers, and screwdrivers.
- Required Personal Tools: A basic electrician’s tool kit, including pliers, wire cutters, and measuring tapes.
- Company-Provided Equipment: Ladders, power drills, and safety gear are provided by Prime Partners.
Physical Requirements
- Lifting Requirements: Must be able to regularly lift and move up to 50 lbs.
- Working Conditions: Work is performed in various commercial environments, both indoors and outdoors, and may include exposure to heights and confined spaces.
- Safety Gear Needed: Hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots are mandatory.
