Job Description: Data Center Technician

Nipper Electric is seeking an experienced Data Center Technician to join our dedicated team in the Commercial division. This role is integral to supporting the electrical needs of our commercial projects, primarily focusing on the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of data centers within office buildings, retail centers, hospitals, and schools. The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in electrical systems, with expertise in handling complex data center environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and components in data centers, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
• Collaborate with project managers and other technicians to ensure efficient and timely completion of projects.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance of data center equipment to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
• Implement and manage cable management systems to ensure organized and efficient data center operations.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for all team members and clients.
• Provide technical support and guidance to junior technicians and apprentices as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, including installation details, maintenance logs, and equipment inventories.

Requirements

• Certifications: CDCDP (preferred), BICSI DCDC
• Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in electrical systems, specifically within commercial projects.
• Licenses: Valid electrical license for North Carolina.
• Skills & Training: Proficiency in Arc Flash Training, BICSI DC Certification, and cable management systems.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and perform tasks requiring physical endurance.
• Safety Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical safety protocols and best practices.

Preferred Experience

• Demonstrated experience with cable management systems in commercial settings.
• Proven track record of successful project execution in commercial environments such as office buildings, retail centers, hospitals, or schools.

Location & Schedule

• Primary Location: Raleigh, NC
• Neighboring Cities: Cary, Durham, Chapel Hill, Garner, and Apex
• Schedule: Full-time position with occasional overtime based on project needs.
