Service Electrician at JP Electric

JP Electric, a leading provider of electrical services in Asheville, NC, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Service Electrician to join our team. Our focus is on servicing critical facilities, including data centers and healthcare institutions, across Asheville and its neighboring cities such as Hendersonville, Waynesville, and Black Mountain. The ideal candidate will be an expert in advanced diagnostics, power monitoring systems, and building automation integration. This role demands a dedicated individual who thrives in high-stakes environments and is willing to respond to emergency situations to ensure the reliability of essential power systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform advanced electrical system diagnostics using power quality analyzers, thermal imaging, and oscilloscopes.
• Troubleshoot building automation system integration issues and design and implement power factor correction solutions.
• Diagnose and repair complex lighting control systems and manage emergency power system testing and maintenance.
• Develop comprehensive maintenance programs for critical facilities and provide detailed repair documentation and recommendations.
• Train facility staff on proper electrical system operation and coordinate with utilities on service upgrades.
• Perform arc flash assessments and labeling, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
• Conduct site-specific power quality surveys and document system improvements.
• Manage service contracts and provide technical guidance for complex electrical issues.
• Collaborate with local utilities and government agencies in Asheville to address regional power quality concerns.
• Ensure compliance with North Carolina state electrical codes and regulations.

Required Qualifications

• Journeyman License with Master Electrician preferred.
• Advanced certifications in power quality analysis.
• Extensive experience with thermal imaging and diagnostic equipment.
• Proven expertise in critical power systems and advanced troubleshooting skills across multiple systems and manufacturers.
• Certification in building automation systems and experience with arc flash studies and safety program development.
• Minimum of 7+ years of experience in Journeyman work within a commercial setting.
• Familiarity with the local electrical infrastructure in Asheville and surrounding areas.
• Ability to manage customer relationships effectively and maintain high standards of service.
• Knowledge of local emergency protocol procedures for critical infrastructure.
