Electrician at JP Electric

JP Electric, a leading provider of electrical services in the Buffalo, NY area, is seeking an Industrial Apprentice Electrician to join our team. This role is essential in supporting automated manufacturing systems within Buffalo and its neighboring cities, such as Niagara Falls, Tonawanda, and Cheektowaga. The position requires a strong understanding of 3-phase power distribution, VFD programming basics, and industrial control systems. The successful candidate will work in active manufacturing environments, ensuring the seamless operation of automated systems and maintaining accurate and detailed documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Install and terminate 480V 3-phase power distribution systems.
• Perform precise conduit bending for complex industrial applications.
• Assist with VFD and motor control installations.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
• Utilize digital multimeters and meggars for testing.
• Maintain detailed maintenance logs.
• Assist with PLC cabinet assembly.
• Follow confined space and elevated work procedures.
• Support production equipment installations.
• Adhere to New York State electrical codes and regulations.
• Assist in troubleshooting automated systems unique to Buffalo-area industries.
• Coordinate with local utility providers for power supply management.

Required Qualifications

• OSHA-30 certification.
• Ability to read and interpret industrial electrical blueprints and P&IDs.
• Demonstrated knowledge of motor control circuits.
• Experience with conduit bending machines up to 2”.
• Proficiency with digital testing equipment.
• Strong mathematical skills for load calculations.
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
• Understanding of industrial network infrastructure.
• 1-3 years of experience required for Apprentice work in an industrial setting.
• Familiarity with Buffalo’s local electrical codes and safety standards.
• Experience working in environments similar to those in the Buffalo industrial sector.
