Overview of the Commercial Cable Tech Role

As a Commercial Cable Tech at IES Electric, you will play a crucial role in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex cable systems in a commercial environment. Requirements for Commercial Cable Tech

Key Responsibilities for Commercial Projects

• Install, terminate, and test various types of cables, including fiber optics and copper.
• Utilize fiber splicers, such as Fujikura, and cable management tools to ensure efficient and effective cable installations.
• Perform network testing using specialized tools to validate system performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with project managers and other technicians to ensure timely completion of projects.
• Maintain accurate documentation of installations and modifications.
• Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.

Required Certifications

• BICSI Installer 2 certification.
• A valid driver’s license.

Required Experience and Skills

• 3-5 years of electrical experience in a commercial setting.
• A valid electrical license for the state of Pennsylvania.
• Proficiency with fiber splicers (Fujikura) and cable management tools.
• Experience working on typical projects such as office buildings, retail centers, hospitals, and schools.
• Physical ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
• Comprehensive knowledge of safety standards and procedures in the electrical industry.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with network testing tools.
• Prior experience working on commercial projects, demonstrating a strong understanding of the unique challenges and requirements in these environments.

Location & Schedule

• Primary Location: Pittsburgh, PA
• Neighboring Cities: McKeesport, Bethel Park, Monroeville, Mount Lebanon, and Penn Hills.
• Schedule: Full-time position with standard working hours, with some flexibility required for project needs.

• Pay Range: $24.39-$27.03 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
