Overview

As an Apprentice Electrician in the Commercial division at Helix Electric, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and grow your career while working alongside experienced professionals on significant commercial projects. You will be part of a team that is dedicated to providing exceptional electrical installations and maintenance services. This position will involve hands-on experience in installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems in various commercial settings such as office buildings, retail centers, hospitals, and schools.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and components in commercial buildings.
• Collaborate with journeymen and master electricians to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
• Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical instructions to complete tasks accurately.
• Use a variety of tools and equipment, including digital multimeters (Fluke), hand tools (Klein, Knipex), and other electrical diagnostic devices.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and OSHA regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
• Keep work areas clean and organized, ensuring tools and materials are appropriately stored.

Required Certifications and Skills:

• OSHA 10 certification (or willingness to obtain shortly after hiring).
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• 1-2 years of electrical experience in a commercial setting.
• Valid electrical license for the state of Colorado.
• Proficiency in using digital multimeters (Fluke) and hand tools (Klein, Knipex).
• Strong understanding of electrical codes and safety practices.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted.
• Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
• Capability to perform tasks that require bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.

Safety Knowledge:

• Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and practices.
• Commitment to following all company safety policies and procedures.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience with OSHA 10 standards in a commercial environment.
• Hands-on experience working on commercial projects such as office buildings, retail centers, hospitals, and schools.
