The Apprentice Electrician Position

Core Apprentice Electrician Responsibilities

As an Apprentice Electrician, you will be responsible for supporting our licensed electricians in the installation of both residential and commercial electrical systems. Your tasks will include pulling and routing electrical cables through walls, ceilings, and conduits, as well as preparing conduits and assisting in the mounting of electrical boxes and panels. You will help maintain job site organization, manage inventory, and prepare tools for daily operations. Additionally, you will perform basic tasks such as wire labeling and clean-up to ensure smooth project progress. By shadowing experienced electricians, you will gain hands-on knowledge and develop essential skills in electrical installations and safety practices.

• Perform advanced troubleshooting of electrical systems under supervision
• Assist in the installation of advanced lighting control systems
• Conduct preliminary electrical inspections to ensure compliance with local codes
• Participate in regional projects, including smart grid installations in the Research Triangle area

Safety is paramount in our work, and you will be expected to adhere to strict safety protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following site-specific safety guidelines.

Required Experience & Skills

We are seeking candidates with a basic understanding of electrical systems and hand tools, coupled with a strong eagerness to learn and develop their skills. Physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to follow safety guidelines and instructions are essential for this role.

• 0-2 years minimum experience as an Apprentice Electrician
• Relevant certifications such as OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety and Health
• Basic technical knowledge of electrical principles and systems

Tools & Equipment

Our Apprentice Electricians use a variety of tools daily, including wire strippers, pliers, multimeters, and conduit benders. While personal tools like a set of screwdrivers and a tool pouch are required, Granite State Electric provides additional equipment necessary for specific tasks, such as power drills and safety gear.

Physical Requirements

The role of an Apprentice Electrician involves physical demands such as lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for extended periods, and working in various environmental conditions, from outdoor sites to confined spaces. Safety gear, including hard hats, gloves, and safety glasses, is mandatory to ensure your protection on the job site.

Compensation Package
