Overview of the Cable Tech Role

The Cable Tech at Expert Wire will play a crucial role within our Commercial division, working on a variety of projects including office buildings, retail centers, hospitals, and schools. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with robust technical skills and a commitment to safety and quality. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting cable systems, ensuring seamless connectivity and functionality for our clients.

Requirements

• Key Responsibilities for Commercial Projects

  • Conduct site assessments to determine cable installation requirements.
  • Install and maintain structured cabling systems, including fiber optics and copper cables.
  • Perform testing and troubleshooting using OTDR testing equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other team members to ensure project timelines and specifications are met.
  • Implement safety protocols and ensure compliance with industry standards.

• Required Certifications

  • Lift Certification
  • Network+ Certification

• Experience with

  • OSHA 10
  • Cable Management Tools
  • OTDR Testing Equipment

• Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of electrical experience.
  • Valid electrical license for IL.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and safety protocols.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various environments.

• Safety Knowledge

  • Comprehensive understanding of safety procedures and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with OTDR Testing Equipment.
• Previous experience working on commercial projects.

Location & Schedule

• Primary Location: Chicago, IL
• Neighboring Cities: Evanston, Oak Park, Cicero, Skokie, and Berwyn.
• Schedule: Full-time position with the possibility of overtime depending on project demands.

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay Range: $22.97-$26.82 per hour, depending on experience.
