A Day in the Life of a Journeyman Electrician
As a Journeyman Electrician at EV GO, you’ll be immersed in a variety of tasks each day. Your primary role will be to install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems specifically designed for EV charging stations. You’ll work in diverse environments, from bustling urban areas to serene suburban neighborhoods, adapting to the unique challenges each site presents.

Core Journeyman Electrician Responsibilities
Advanced Technical Duties
- Perform advanced diagnostics using state-of-the-art multimeters and oscilloscopes to troubleshoot complex electrical issues.
- Design and implement custom electrical solutions for unique EV charging station requirements, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards.
- Lead complex conduit systems installations, utilizing advanced bending techniques for optimal efficiency and aesthetics.
Regional Project Specifics
Our projects often involve unique challenges presented by the varied landscapes and architectures found in the greater Ladera Ranch area. Your expertise will be pivotal in adapting installations to meet these regional specifics, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructures.
Safety Protocols
Adhering to stringent safety protocols is non-negotiable. You’ll be responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, conducting regular safety checks, and ensuring all team members comply with OSHA standards and EV GO’s safety policies.
Required Experience & Skills
Certification and Experience
- Active and valid journeyman electrician certification from the California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR).
- At least 3-5 years of hands-on experience as a Journeyman Electrician, with a strong focus on EV charging station installations.
Technical Knowledge
- Proficiency in using conduit bending tools, multimeters, and other diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical diagrams.
- Strong leadership skills in supervising apprentices and managing on-site safety.
Tools & Equipment
Daily Tools
- Conduit benders, wire strippers, and multimeters are among the essential tools you’ll use daily.
- Personal tools required include a reliable set of screwdrivers, pliers, and a voltage tester.

EV GO provides specialized equipment, including advanced testing devices and safety gear, to ensure you can perform your duties effectively and safely.
Physical Requirements
Lifting and Conditions
Journeyman Electricians must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds regularly and be comfortable working in various conditions, including confined spaces and outdoor environments.

Essential safety gear includes hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots, all of which are provided to ensure your safety on the job.
