The Journeyman Electrician Position

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

As a Journeyman Electrician at Crosby Electric, your days will be filled with diverse tasks ranging from installing and maintaining electrical systems to troubleshooting and ensuring compliance with industry standards. You’ll be responsible for interpreting blueprints, planning installations, and executing them with a high degree of precision.

Core Journeyman Electrician Responsibilities

• Install and Maintain Systems: You will handle the installation and maintenance of commercial electrical systems, including switchgear, transformers, lighting fixtures, and power circuits.
• Conduit Work: Accurately measure, cut, and bend conduit (EMT, rigid) for system installations.
• Wire Management: Perform wire pulling, labeling, and termination, ensuring neat and secure connections.
• Troubleshooting and Compliance: Troubleshoot electrical issues using tools like multimeters and ensure circuits meet NEC code requirements.
• Collaboration and Supervision: Work collaboratively with other trades to plan and execute installations within construction schedules. Supervise apprentices, providing guidance on proper techniques and safety practices.
• Organized Work Sites: Maintain organized and clean job sites, adhering to all safety and operational standards.

Advanced Technical Duties

• Design and implement energy-efficient solutions tailored to specific regional needs.

Required Experience & Skills

• Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years as a Journeyman Electrician.
• Licenses and Certifications: Valid journeyman electrician license, essential certifications in first aid and CPR, and any relevant state-specific certifications.
• Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of NEC codes, proficiency with conduit bending, and electrical tools.
• Leadership Skills: Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to lead and manage apprentices and teams effectively.
