The Fire Alarm Technician Position

As a Fire Alarm Technician at Crosby Electric, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding lives and property through the installation and maintenance of state-of-the-art fire alarm systems. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include working on a variety of projects, from new constructions to refurbishments, in both urban and rural settings. Core Fire Alarm Technician Responsibilities

  • Installation and Maintenance: Install, inspect, and maintain fire alarm systems, ensuring all components, such as control panels, smoke detectors, and pull stations, meet design specifications and safety standards.
  • Testing and Troubleshooting: Perform system testing and troubleshooting to resolve functionality issues and ensure compliance with local fire codes.
  • Wiring and Integration: Route and secure low-voltage wiring in walls and ceilings, maintaining an organized and professional installation. Coordinate with general contractors and electricians to integrate fire alarm systems with other building systems.
  • Documentation and Training: Document installation and maintenance details, providing clear records for compliance and client use. Train end-users on the operation of fire alarm systems and respond to service calls as needed.

Advanced Technical Duties

  • Program and configure complex fire alarm control panels for customized functionality.
  • Implement advanced diagnostics tools to enhance troubleshooting efficiency.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Professional Expertise: Proficiency with fire alarm control panels and programming, a strong understanding of local fire codes and NFPA standards, and experience with troubleshooting and maintaining fire alarm systems.
  • Communication and Problem-Solving: Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are essential for effective collaboration and customer interactions.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Fire Alarm Technician is required.

Physical Requirements

  • Lifting Requirements: Technicians must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
