The Apprentice Electrician Position

Being an Apprentice Electrician at Bidram Electric involves a dynamic and engaging role where you will play a key part in the installation and maintenance of electrical systems. On a daily basis, you will assist skilled journeymen and foremen in tasks that range from pulling and securing electrical wiring to installing service panels and transformers. Our projects are varied, including residential, commercial, and infrastructure developments, providing a diverse work environment. You will work under the supervision of experienced electricians, learning the intricacies of the trade while contributing to team efforts. Core Apprentice Electrician Responsibilities

As an Apprentice Electrician on our team, you will:

• Support Installation and Maintenance: Assist in the installation and maintenance of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, ensuring compliance with NEC and California Electric Code standards.
• Electrical Wiring and Conduits: Pull and secure electrical wiring through conduits, trenches, and walls, ensuring proper labeling and organization.
• Conduit and Equipment Installation: Help with conduit bending (EMT, rigid) and installation under supervision, and assist with the installation of service panels, transformers, and EV charging equipment.
• Troubleshooting and Testing: Perform basic troubleshooting tasks and system testing under the guidance of licensed electricians.
• Site Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness and organization on the job site, including proper storage of tools, materials, and equipment.
• Safety Protocols: Attend daily safety meetings and adhere to all workplace safety protocols.
• Advanced Technical Duties: Learn and implement proper techniques for wire terminations, conduit layout, and electrical system components. Assist in advanced tasks such as load calculations and panel upgrades.
• Regional Specifics: Engage in projects involving solar panel installations and smart home integrations, which are increasingly popular in our service areas.
• Documentation and Reporting: Document daily work progress and report any safety or operational issues to supervisors.

Required Experience & Skills

To succeed as an Apprentice Electrician at Bidram Electric, you should have:

• Experience and Certifications: 0-2 years minimum experience as an Apprentice Electrician and a valid Electrical Trainee card from the California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR).
• Technical Knowledge: Basic understanding of electrical systems, tools, and equipment. Familiarity with NEC and California Electric Code is a plus.
• Desire to Learn: Strong willingness to learn and develop skills under the supervision of experienced electricians.
• Transportation and Mobility: Reliable transportation to job sites and the ability to work across multiple locations.
• Safety Training: OSHA 10-hour certification and First Aid/CPR preferred.
• Physical Ability: Physical stamina to perform manual labor, including lifting up to 50 pounds and working on ladders or in confined spaces.

Tools & Equipment

• Daily Tools: Multimeter, screwdrivers, pliers, wire strippers, and fish tape are used daily by our Apprentice Electricians.
• Personal Tools: Apprentices should own basic hand tools, while specialized equipment is provided by the company.
• Company Equipment: Bidram Electric provides larger tools and equipment necessary for specific tasks, such as conduit benders and testing devices.

Physical Requirements

• Lifting: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly is required.
• Working Conditions: Work may include climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, and exposure to varying weather conditions.
• Safety Gear: Hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots are mandatory for all job sites.
