Core Cable Installer Responsibilities

Expert Installation and Testing

  • Structured Cabling Systems: Install complex systems, including Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optics, in both new constructions and retrofits.
  • Precision Termination and Testing: Utilize precision tools and testers to ensure the integrity of copper and fiber optic cables.
  • Network Equipment Installation: Mount, secure, and label network racks and patch panels with precision and care.
  • Cable Management: Install cable trays and ladder racks, ensuring proper routing and support, and dress cables to meet industry standards.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and follow construction blueprints and cabling diagrams to execute accurate installations.
  • Advanced Technical Duties: Engage in advanced tasks such as network configuration, system integration, and troubleshooting complex cabling issues.
  • Regional Project Dynamics: Adapt to project specifics unique to the regions we serve, ensuring compliance with local regulations and standards.

Safety Protocols

Adhere to stringent safety protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), following lockout/tagout procedures, and attending regular safety training sessions to ensure a safe working environment.

Required Experience & Skills

Essential Skills for Success

  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years as a Cable Installer, with a proven track record of successful installations.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expertise in terminating fiber and copper cables and a thorough understanding of TIA/EIA cabling standards.
  • Blueprint Mastery: Ability to read and interpret complex network blueprints and diagrams.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong skills in managing tools and inventory to ensure efficiency and effectiveness on the job.

Certifications

  • BICSI Installer 1 or 2 Certification
  • OSHA 10 or 30 Certification
  • Manufacturer-specific certifications for cable and equipment
