Atek Communications, based in Greensboro, NC, is seeking a skilled Fiber Optic Network Specialist to join our dynamic team. As a vital member of our organization, you will work in the heart of Greensboro and surrounding cities such as High Point, Winston-Salem, and Burlington. Your role will focus on the design, implementation, and maintenance of sophisticated enterprise fiber systems. This position requires a deep understanding of single-mode, multi-mode, and Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) systems. As part of our commitment to excellence, we seek professionals who are adept in fusion splicing, Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) testing, and emergency restoration. Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement advanced fiber optic networks tailored to enterprise needs.
• Execute precision fusion splicing operations and configure DWDM systems.
• Conduct comprehensive testing and certification of fiber installations.
• Maintain accurate and detailed splice documentation and fiber management records.
• Install and configure fiber distribution systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
• Perform OTDR testing to evaluate fiber integrity and pinpoint faults.
• Implement effective fiber management systems and coordinate pathway installations.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to all OSHA requirements.
• Execute emergency restoration procedures with efficiency and expertise.
• Mentor and train junior technicians, fostering professional growth within the team.
• Facilitate fiber network projects specific to Greensboro, including the upcoming Greensboro Central Fiber Expansion Project.
• Ensure compliance with North Carolina state regulations for fiber installations.
• Perform tasks that require after-hours emergency response, demonstrating flexibility and commitment.

Required Qualifications

• FOA certification in fiber optics is mandatory.
• Extensive experience with fusion splicing and proven expertise in OTDR testing.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex fiber management systems and documentation.
• Certification in multiple splice platforms and advanced knowledge of various fiber types.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and proven emergency response experience.
• 2-5 years of fiber work experience in a commercial setting is required.
• Familiarity with Greensboro’s local infrastructure and regulatory environment.
• Ability to work in diverse environments, including confined spaces and elevated platforms.
