Data Center Cable Tech at Atek Communications
Join Atek Communications as a Data Center Cable Technician in Birmingham, AL, serving the surrounding areas of Hoover, Vestavia Hills, and Mountain Brook. This role focuses on structured cabling installation, ensuring excellence in cable management, termination, and testing in a dynamic data center environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and dress Category 6/6A cabling systems
- Terminate copper and fiber connections
- Maintain proper cable management in server racks
- Install overhead cable tray and ladder rack
- Perform cable testing and certification
- Document test results and warranties
- Maintain clean room protocols
- Organize patch panel layouts
- Implement proper cable routing and separation
- Assist with fiber trunk installation
- Maintain detailed labeling systems
- Conduct site assessments in compliance with AL regulations
- Participate in the upcoming “Birmingham Tech Hub” project
Required Qualifications
- BICSI Installer 1 preferred
- Experience with structured cabling systems
- Proficiency in cable termination techniques
- Knowledge of testing procedures
- Understanding of cable management best practices
- Ability to read network drawings
- Experience with labeling systems
- Attention to detail
- Basic understanding of network hardware
- 1-3 years of experience in Voice Data work in a commercial setting
- Familiarity with Birmingham building codes
- Ability to navigate local data center layouts
Compensation & Benefits
