Data Center Technician at WiLine

WiLine is seeking a skilled Data Center Operations Technician to join our team in New Haven, IN. This pivotal role involves managing and maintaining our critical facility infrastructure, ensuring seamless operations across our data centers. The position is based in New Haven, with additional responsibilities extending to surrounding cities like Fort Wayne, Decatur, and Auburn, IN. The successful candidate will have a strong grasp of data center infrastructure, including power, cooling, and monitoring systems, and will be integral to our upcoming “New Haven Data Center Expansion Project,” a large-scale initiative aimed at enhancing our data center capabilities in the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain critical data center infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and uptime.
• Perform server installations and decommissions, efficiently managing cable plant documentation.
• Implement hot/cold aisle containment strategies to optimize cooling efficiency.
• Coordinate maintenance windows to minimize service disruptions.
• Perform power circuit installations and maintain battery backup systems to guarantee power reliability.
• Monitor environmental controls to maintain optimal operating conditions.
• Execute change management procedures and manage the equipment lifecycle.
• Perform network hardware installations, ensuring robust connectivity.
• Maintain security protocols to protect data center operations.
• Support local compliance with Indiana’s environmental and safety regulations.
• Collaborate on the “New Haven Data Center Expansion Project,” focusing on infrastructure upgrades.
• Engage with local utility providers to optimize power distribution strategies.

Required Qualifications

• BICSI Data Center Technician certification preferred.
• Experience with critical infrastructure management in a commercial setting.
• Demonstrated ability with DCIM systems and strong documentation skills.
• Experience dressing and terminating cables.
• Clean background check required.
• 3-5 years of experience in data center operations within a commercial environment.
• Familiarity with local New Haven building codes and safety standards.
• Ability to work with regional utility companies for seamless power management.
