Overview of the Retail Cable Technician Role

At Tri City Electric, the Retail Cable Technician plays a crucial role in our commercial projects. This position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems in various commercial settings. The technician will work closely with project managers and other team members to ensure that all installations meet company standards and client expectations. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems, safety protocols, and the ability to work in dynamic commercial environments.

Essential Functions

• Installation and Maintenance: Install, test, and maintain electrical wiring, equipment, appliances, and fixtures in commercial buildings, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
• Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnose electrical issues in commercial settings and perform necessary repairs to ensure minimal downtime and operational efficiency.
• Project Collaboration: Work closely with project managers and other team members to plan and execute electrical installations and upgrades in office buildings, retail centers, hospitals, and schools.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols, including OSHA 10 and First Aid/CPR standards, to ensure a safe working environment for all team members.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and maintenance activities, and report any issues or discrepancies to project managers.
• Continuous Learning: Stay updated on the latest industry standards and technologies, with a focus on BICSI certifications and practices.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: 3-5 years of electrical experience in a commercial setting.
• Licensing: Must possess a valid electrical license for North Carolina.
• Safety Certifications: Proven experience with OSHA 10 and First Aid/CPR certifications.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and perform tasks that require physical strength and stamina.
• Safety Knowledge: Strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures relevant to electrical installations in commercial environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• BICSI Certification: Experience with BICSI standards and practices is highly desirable.
• Commercial Project Experience: Prior experience working on large-scale commercial projects is preferred.

Location & Schedule

• Primary Location: This position is based in Oakboro, NC.
• Neighboring Cities: The role may also involve travel to neighboring cities such as Albemarle, Locust, and Midland, NC, to support various commercial projects.
• Schedule: This is a full-time position, requiring flexibility to work extended hours or weekends as needed to meet project deadlines.

• Pay Range: Competitive hourly pay ranging from $22.58 to $26.39, based on experience and qualifications.
