Key Responsibilities

As a Commercial Security Systems Specialist at TR Group, you will install and maintain cutting-edge commercial security systems, ensuring seamless programming of access control and surveillance equipment. You’ll configure IP camera networks and VLANs while implementing advanced cybersecurity measures to safeguard our security networks. Your role will involve managing credential databases and coordinating with IT teams for seamless network integration. You’ll supervise the installation of biometric devices, perform system health monitoring, and maintain meticulous documentation of system configurations. Training end users on security platforms and maintaining detailed testing records will be essential, as will integrating security solutions with building automation systems.

Specific to the West Des Moines area, you will:

• Lead the security upgrade project for the Valley Junction District, a prominent initiative enhancing local business security.
• Collaborate with regional city planners to ensure compliance with Iowa’s security regulations.
• Work on high-profile installations for the upcoming West Des Moines Business Park, a major commercial development.
• Engage with community stakeholders to tailor security solutions that address local needs and concerns.

Required Qualifications

To excel in this role, a Security+ certification is preferred, along with extensive experience with VMS platforms. You should possess proven expertise in access control systems, demonstrated ability with IP networking, and advanced knowledge of cybersecurity protocols. Certification in security system programming and strong IT and database management skills are essential. Experience with enterprise security architecture and a clean background check are required.

For work in the West Des Moines area, candidates should have:

• 3-5 years of experience required for Journeyman work in commercial settings.
• Familiarity with Iowa’s specific security compliance standards.
• Experience working with Midwestern weather conditions for outdoor installations.
