Cable Installer at Texas Voice & Data

Key Responsibilities
You’ll assist in installing electrical systems and learn the ropes of commercial wiring. You’ll support power distribution projects, help program lighting controls, and install conduit and cable pathways. You’ll also maintain material inventory, operate lift equipment under supervision, and assist with fire alarm installation. Documenting your daily work activities is important, too. Plus, you’ll support panel installation and testing while getting to know the basics of building automation. You’ll coordinate with other trades and may take on unique projects specific to Carrollton, like the upcoming development at The Shops at Willow Bend. In Texas, you’ll need to be familiar with state-specific installation codes and guidelines.
Required Qualifications
To join us, you’ll need a high school diploma or GED and be enrolled in an apprenticeship program. Basic electrical knowledge, the ability to read construction drawings, and proficiency with hand tools are key. A valid driver’s license and the physical ability to lift heavy materials are also required. Good communication skills and basic computer proficiency will help you succeed. You should have 1-5 years of experience in voice data work in a commercial setting. Familiarity with Carrollton’s local building codes and a knack for navigating the area’s traffic will give you an edge.
