What You’ll Do as a Security Technician

As a Security Technician at Tech Electronics, you’ll be an integral part of our multi-year project in Oviedo, FL, with additional opportunities in neighboring cities like Winter Springs, Sanford, and Casselberry. Your role focuses on ensuring the safety and security of commercial sites through meticulous installation and maintenance of advanced security systems. Day-to-day, you’ll engage in hands-on tasks that require precision, technical skill, and a keen eye for detail, all while contributing to the safety and security of our clients’ environments.

Your Daily Tasks as a Security Technician

Installation and Configuration

Every day, you’ll be tasked with installing, configuring, and troubleshooting a variety of security systems. This includes setting up IP cameras, access control systems, motion detectors, and alarm systems at commercial job sites. Your meticulous approach will ensure that each system is installed correctly and functions seamlessly.

Cable Management

A significant part of your job involves pulling, terminating, and labeling low-voltage cables. You’ll need to ensure proper routing and compliance with site specifications, which is crucial for maintaining system integrity and performance. This task requires a methodical approach to avoid any disruption in connectivity.

System Testing and Verification

You’ll perform comprehensive on-site testing to verify system functionality, connectivity, and power reliability. By doing so, you’ll ensure that all security systems are operating at their highest efficiency, providing peace of mind to our clients.

Collaboration and Documentation

Collaboration with project managers and general contractors is key. You’ll align installations with project timelines, maintaining accurate installation records and documentation to ensure all systems meet customer and industry standards. This involves clear communication and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Client Training and Safety Protocols

An essential part of your role is providing training to clients on basic system operation and troubleshooting. Additionally, you’ll adhere to safety protocols and maintain cleanliness and organization on job sites, emphasizing a safe working environment for everyone.

Additional Daily Activities

  • Conduct routine maintenance checks on existing systems to ensure ongoing functionality.
  • Diagnose and resolve any technical issues that arise during installations or maintenance tasks.
  • Regularly update inventory records and equipment logs to keep track of tools and supplies.

What You Need to Be a Security Technician

Experience and Skills

To thrive in this role, you’ll need 1-3 years of experience as a Security Technician. Key skills include:

  • Proficiency in installing and configuring security systems.
  • Strong knowledge of cable routing and termination.
  • Familiarity with IP networking and camera systems.
  • Excellent troubleshooting abilities for both hardware and software issues.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills for effective collaboration and documentation.
