As a Cable Technician at T&D Communications, you will play a critical role in the installation and maintenance of telecommunications systems within office buildings in Barstow, CA, and the surrounding areas. Your expertise in low voltage cabling will ensure efficient and reliable communication networks for our clients, contributing to the seamless operation of their businesses.

Requirements for Cable Technician

• Key responsibilities for Cable Technician at T&D Communications:

  • Install, terminate, and test low voltage cables, including CAT 5e, CAT 6, and fiber optic cables.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve cable network issues in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to company safety standards and industry regulations during all installations and repairs.

• Low voltage cabling installation:

  • Experience in routing and fastening cables as per design specifications.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard cable installation procedures.

• Tool proficiency for daily tasks:

  • Proficient with cable testing equipment, such as cable testers and tone generators.
  • Competent in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Skilled in operating termination equipment for both copper and fiber optic cables.

• Daily tasks:

  • Conduct site surveys and assessments of existing cable infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other technicians to ensure project timelines are met.
  • Maintain accurate records of installations and repairs for documentation and reporting purposes.

• Project involvement:

  • Participate in the planning and execution of large-scale cabling projects.
  • Assist in the development of project proposals and cost estimates.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior technicians and apprentices.

Qualifications for Cable Technician at T&D Communications

• 2-5 years of experience in telecommunications or a related field.
• Required certification: Fiber Optic Certification.
• Experience with: Cable Management Systems, Termination Equipment.
• Physical requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work in confined spaces, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.

Preferred Qualifications

• Additional certification: BICSI Installer 2.
• Experience with: Fiber Optic Tools.

• Pay range: $31.17-$36.63 per hour.
