The Cable Installer Position

As a Cable Installer on our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring seamless connectivity and infrastructure reliability for our clients. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include installing and maintaining structured cabling systems, such as Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optics, across diverse environments ranging from bustling office buildings to expansive industrial sites. Core Cable Installer Responsibilities

Your primary duties will encompass the installation of structured cabling systems, focusing on the precise termination and testing of both copper and fiber optic cables. You will be responsible for mounting, securing, and organizing network racks, patch panels, and cable trays, ensuring that all installations meet specific site and industry standards. Dressing and bundling cables neatly is crucial to maintaining a professional appearance and functionality.

You will also troubleshoot and resolve connectivity issues both during and post-installation, utilizing advanced testing equipment and your expertise. Reading and interpreting blueprints and construction diagrams accurately will be essential to ensuring the integrity of installations. Furthermore, you will coordinate with project teams to seamlessly integrate cabling systems into larger infrastructure projects, maintaining detailed records and adhering to stringent quality and safety protocols.

Advanced technical duties include the configuration and optimization of network devices, performing complex fiber optic splicing, and utilizing specialized software for cable management and diagnostics.   • Essential certifications include BICSI Installer 1, FOA Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT), and OSHA 10-hour Construction
  • Required technical knowledge encompasses a thorough understanding of network infrastructure, cable management systems, and diagnostic testing equipment

Tools & Equipment

Daily tools used by our Cable Installers include cable strippers, crimpers, punch-down tools, fiber optic cleavers, and fusion splicers. Personal tools required include a basic toolkit with screwdrivers, pliers, and a multimeter. Star Electric provides advanced testing equipment and safety gear, ensuring that our installers have the best resources available for their tasks.

Physical Requirements

The role requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and work in various conditions, including confined spaces, heights, and outdoor environments. Installers must wear appropriate safety gear, including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots, to ensure their safety on site.
