The Cable Installer Position

As a Cable Installer with Staley Technologies, you will be at the heart of our operations, ensuring that all cable installation projects are executed with precision and professionalism. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include installing various structured cabling systems, working in diverse environments such as new constructions, office buildings, and retrofit settings. Core Cable Installer Responsibilities

Your primary responsibilities will include installing structured cabling systems such as Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optics. You will be expected to terminate and test copper and fiber optic cables with precision tools and testers, ensuring reliability and performance. Responsibilities also include mounting, securing, and labeling network racks and patch panels, as well as installing cable tray and ladder rack systems. Advanced duties may involve configuring network switches, integrating wireless access points, conducting site surveys for optimal cabling routes, and troubleshooting complex network issues. Safety is paramount; you will adhere to strict safety protocols, including wearing appropriate PPE and following OSHA guidelines. Regional projects may involve unique challenges such as working in coastal environments, requiring specific weather-proofing techniques.

Required Experience & Skills

To excel in this role, you should have extensive experience with structured cabling systems, including proficiency in terminating both fiber and copper cables. Familiarity with TIA/EIA cabling standards and the ability to read and interpret network blueprints are essential. Candidates should have at least 3-5 years of experience as a Cable Installer. Essential certifications may include BICSI Installer 1 or 2, OSHA 10-hour Construction, and Fiber Optic Association (FOA) Certification. Technical knowledge should encompass network infrastructure components, cable testing procedures, and an understanding of local building codes.

Tools & Equipment

Daily, our Cable Installers utilize a variety of tools, including cable testers, crimping tools, punch-down tools, and fish tapes. Personal tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, and cutting tools are expected to be brought by the installer. Staley Technologies provides specialized equipment, including fiber optic testers, ladders, and safety harnesses, ensuring you have the necessary resources to perform your duties safely and efficiently.

Physical Requirements

The position of a Cable Installer requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally lift up to 75 pounds. You will work in various conditions, from indoor office settings to outdoor construction sites, requiring adaptability and resilience. Safety gear, including hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots, is mandatory to ensure your well-being on the job.

Compensation Package
