The Apprentice Electrician Position

Core Apprentice Electrician Responsibilities

Your role will primarily involve assisting licensed electricians with the installation and maintenance of residential electrical systems. This includes tasks like wiring outlets, switches, and lighting fixtures. You’ll be responsible for pulling and securing electrical cables through walls, attics, and crawl spaces, and setting up and maintaining job site tools and materials. Advanced technical duties will include interpreting electrical blueprints, troubleshooting basic wiring issues, and assisting with the installation of smart home devices. Projects often include region-specific tasks such as installing hurricane-resistant electrical systems. Safety is paramount; you’ll adhere to comprehensive safety protocols, ensuring all tools and debris are properly stored or disposed of. Shadowing experienced electricians will be a key part of your learning, allowing you to master proper techniques and methods.

Required Experience & Skills

The ideal candidate should possess basic knowledge of residential wiring and circuits and demonstrate proficiency with tools such as pliers and drills. Strong attention to detail and good organizational skills are essential, along with reliable transportation to job sites. We require 0-2 years of experience as an Apprentice Electrician. Essential certifications include an OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety card and a valid CPR certification. Technical knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and basic blueprint reading is required to ensure compliance and safety on all projects.

Tools & Equipment

Our Apprentice Electricians utilize a range of tools daily, including wire strippers, voltage testers, and conduit benders. Personal tools required include a set of pliers, screwdrivers, and a reliable multimeter. Staley Technologies provides company equipment like safety harnesses, ladders, and power drills to ensure you have the right tools for the job.

Physical Requirements

The role of an Apprentice Electrician requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders and working in confined spaces. You’ll often work in various weather conditions, from hot summers to rainy seasons, requiring resilience and adaptability. Safety gear, including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots, is essential to maintain a safe working environment.

Compensation Package

We offer a competitive salary range of $20.83-$29.67 per hour, commensurate with experience and skill level.
