Fire Alarm Installer at Shelby Communications

Shelby Communications is seeking a skilled Fire Alarm Installer to join our team based in Midland, TX. This role focuses on the installation of fire alarm systems in commercial new construction projects throughout Midland and its neighboring areas such as Odessa, Big Spring, and Andrews. The ideal candidate will have experience with various fire alarm systems, including understanding control panels, initiating devices, and notification appliances. Key Responsibilities

• Install fire alarm control panels and devices in commercial buildings.
• Pull and terminate fire alarm cable and mount notification appliances and initiation devices.
• Assist with system programming and testing to ensure functionality.
• Maintain detailed point-to-point wiring documentation and coordinate with other trades for device placement.
• Perform pre-wire and trim-out phases, install conduit and cable pathways, and troubleshoot system wiring issues.
• Maintain proper color coding and labeling to ensure system integrity and assist with final testing and inspections.
• Responsible for adhering to regional requirements such as obtaining necessary permits for installations in the Midland area.
• Work on upcoming large-scale projects like the new Midland Business Center, requiring efficient coordination and execution.
• Engage in weekend work during critical testing phases to meet project deadlines.

Required Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience required in fire alarm work within a commercial setting.
• Proficiency in reading blueprints and understanding NFPA 72 requirements.
• Strong understanding of fire alarm circuit types and experience with basic programming.
• Ability to use multimeter and testing equipment and perform voltage drop calculations.
• Attention to detail for thorough documentation and good communication skills for effective coordination.
• Familiarity with Texas state regulations for fire alarm systems, ensuring compliance and safety.
• Must be adaptable to work in Midland’s diverse weather conditions and have reliable transportation for travel within the region.
