The Electrician Position

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

As an Electrician with Rogers Electric, you will be at the forefront of our operations, engaging in a variety of tasks that ensure the smooth functioning of electrical systems. Your daily responsibilities will involve installing and maintaining electrical systems, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. You will be expected to manage multiple projects simultaneously, adapting to different environments and challenges with ease.

Core Electrician Responsibilities

  • Install and maintain commercial electrical systems, ensuring compliance with local codes and regulations.
  • Bend and install EMT and rigid conduit with precision and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot electrical circuits using advanced tools like multimeters and oscilloscopes.
  • Wire and test lighting controls for functionality and energy efficiency.
  • Replace and upgrade switchgear to improve system reliability.
  • Install transformers and ensure proper grounding and bonding.
  • Oversee apprentices on job sites, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.
  • Engage in advanced technical duties such as programming PLCs for industrial automation and integrating smart home technologies in residential projects.
  • Participate in regional projects involving renewable energy installations and energy audits.
  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols, conducting regular safety checks and ensuring a hazard-free work environment.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an electrician, with a proven track record in commercial and residential projects.
  • Proficiency with conduit benders and power tools, and a deep understanding of NEC codes.
  • Ability to work confidently on lifts and scaffolding while maintaining safety.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve electrical issues efficiently.
  • Experience with lighting control systems and energy management solutions.
  • Leadership capabilities to mentor and guide apprentices effectively.
  • Essential certifications such as a California State Electrician Certification and OSHA 30-Hour Safety Certification.
  • Technical knowledge of advanced electrical systems and components.

Tools & Equipment

  • Daily use of tools such as multimeters, conduit benders, wire strippers, and power drills.
  • Personal tools required include a quality set of screwdrivers, pliers, and a reliable tool belt.
  • Company-provided equipment includes ladders, safety gear, and specialized testing instruments.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and work in confined spaces.
  • Working conditions may involve exposure to various weather conditions and environments.
  • Safety gear such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots are mandatory.
