Your Daily Responsibilities as a Voice and Data Installer

Installing and Terminating Cabling Systems

Your primary responsibility will be to install and terminate low-voltage cabling systems, including CAT5e, CAT6, and fiber optics, for voice and data networks. This involves precise handling of cables to ensure optimal connectivity and performance.

Mounting and Configuring Network Hardware

You will mount and configure network hardware such as patch panels, switches, and wireless access points. This requires an eye for detail and adherence to installation specifications to ensure seamless network operation.

Cable Testing and Troubleshooting

Performing cable testing, certification, and troubleshooting is a critical part of your job. You’ll ensure that every connection meets performance standards and resolve any issues that arise during the installation process.

Creating Cable Pathways

You’ll be responsible for creating cable pathways using raceways, conduits, and trays. This task requires compliance with building and safety codes, ensuring both efficiency and safety in our installations.

Qualifications Needed to Excel as a Voice and Data Installer

Experience and Skills

• Field Experience: At least 2+ years of experience in low-voltage systems installation.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of structured cabling and network hardware, along with cable testing tools and troubleshooting techniques.
• Construction Environment Adaptability: Ability to work effectively in active construction sites, managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
