What You’ll Do as a Voice and Data Installer

Welcome to Prime Partners! As a Voice and Data Installer, you’ll play a crucial role in our expansive projects throughout Oklahoma City and nearby areas such as Edmond, Norman, and Moore. Your work is vital to ensuring seamless communication networks in commercial buildings. This position isn’t just about installing cables; it’s about crafting the backbone of modern infrastructure.

Your Daily Tasks as a Voice and Data Installer

Install and Terminate Cabling Systems

Your day will start with installing and terminating low-voltage cabling systems, including CAT5e, CAT6, and fiber optics. These installations are crucial for voice and data networks in commercial construction projects.

Mount and Configure Network Hardware

You’ll be responsible for mounting and configuring essential network hardware. This includes setting up patch panels, switches, and wireless access points, ensuring all components are securely and efficiently installed.

Perform Cable Testing and Troubleshooting

A key part of your role is to perform cable testing, certification, and troubleshooting. You’ll ensure that each system operates at peak performance, identifying and resolving any potential issues before they become problems.

Create Cable Pathways

You’ll also create cable pathways using raceways, conduits, and trays. This task requires strict adherence to building and safety codes to ensure both functionality and compliance.

Collaborate with Project Teams

Collaboration is essential. You’ll work closely with project teams to align on installation deadlines and client expectations, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time and meet our high standards.

Additional Daily Activities

In addition to the core tasks, you’ll be involved in maintaining equipment, updating project documentation, and attending project briefings to stay informed on new developments and techniques.

What You Need to Be a Voice and Data Installer

Experience and Knowledge

To succeed in this role, you’ll need at least 2+ years of experience working with low-voltage systems, including structured cabling and network hardware. Your strong knowledge of cable testing tools and troubleshooting techniques will be invaluable.

Skills and Abilities

• Proficiency in installing and configuring network components.
• Ability to interpret technical diagrams and blueprints.
• Strong problem-solving skills to address on-the-spot issues.
