What You’ll Do as a Voice and Data Installer
As a Voice and Data Installer at Prime Partners, you’ll be at the forefront of our multi-year project in Danville, CA. Our work extends beyond Danville, reaching into neighboring cities such as San Ramon, Walnut Creek, and Pleasanton. Your role is crucial in ensuring that our commercial construction projects are equipped with cutting-edge voice and data networks. You’ll be working directly with our skilled team to deliver top-notch installations, ensuring our client’s needs are met with precision and reliability.
Your Daily Tasks as a Voice and Data Installer
Install and Terminate Low-Voltage Cabling Systems
Your primary responsibility will involve setting up and terminating low-voltage cabling systems, including CAT5e, CAT6, and fiber optics. You’ll be working on these installations to support voice and data networks in a variety of commercial settings.
Mount and Configure Network Hardware
You’ll mount and configure network hardware, such as patch panels, switches, and wireless access points. Ensuring that these components are properly installed and functional is crucial for maintaining network integrity.
Perform Cable Testing and Troubleshooting
Regular cable testing, certification, and troubleshooting will be part of your daily routine. You’ll ensure optimal system performance by using your expertise to identify and rectify any issues.
Create Cable Pathways
Your role includes creating cable pathways using raceways, conduits, and trays, all while adhering to building and safety codes. This requires a keen eye for detail to ensure compliance and safety.
Collaborate with Project Teams
You’ll collaborate closely with project teams to ensure that installation deadlines are met and client expectations are exceeded. Teamwork and communication are key components of your daily work life.
Additional Daily Activities
In addition to the above, you’ll also be responsible for maintaining accurate installation records, attending site meetings to discuss project progress, and keeping abreast of the latest industry standards and technologies. Your day will be dynamic, involving a blend of technical work and coordination with various stakeholders.
What You Need to Be a Voice and Data Installer
Proven Experience and Skills Required
- 2+ Years in the Field: You must have at least two years of hands-on experience as a Voice and Data Installer.
- Proficiency in Low-Voltage Systems: Demonstrated experience with structured cabling and network hardware is essential.
- Strong Troubleshooting Skills: You should have a solid grasp of cable testing tools and troubleshooting techniques.
- Ability to Work in Active Environments: The ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in active construction environments is crucial.
