Core Security Technician Responsibilities
- System Installation and Configuration: Install, configure, and troubleshoot IP cameras, access control systems, motion detectors, and alarm systems at commercial job sites.
- Cable Management: Pull, terminate, and label low-voltage cables, ensuring proper routing and compliance with site specifications.
- System Testing and Verification: Perform comprehensive on-site testing to verify system functionality, connectivity, and power reliability.
- Collaboration with Project Teams: Collaborate with project managers and general contractors to align installations with project timelines.
- Documentation and Standards Compliance: Maintain accurate installation records and documentation, ensuring all systems meet customer and industry standards.
- Client Training and Safety Adherence: Provide training to clients on basic system operation and troubleshooting. Adhere to safety protocols and maintain cleanliness and organization on job sites.
- Advanced Technical Duties: Implement advanced network configurations, perform system integrations with existing IT infrastructure, conduct regular software updates and patches, and manage large-scale security system deployments.
- Regional Project Specifics: Engage in projects in Ventura and neighboring areas, adapting to region-specific building codes and standards.
- Safety Protocols: Ensure adherence to OSHA guidelines, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and site-specific safety measures to maintain a secure work environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1-3 years experience as a Security Technician.
- Essential certifications such as CompTIA Security+, BICSI Installer, or equivalent.
- Robust knowledge of cable routing and termination, IP networking, and camera systems.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
Tools & Equipment
- Daily Tools: Multimeter, cable tester, power drill, and network analyzer.
- Personal Tools Required: Basic hand tools, safety gloves, and a personal laptop.
- Company-Provided Equipment: Specialized testing equipment, company vehicle for site visits, and safety gear.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Work in various conditions, including outdoor sites and confined spaces.
- Safety gear needed includes hard hats, safety goggles, and steel-toed boots.
