What You’ll Do as a Security Technician

As a Security Technician at Prime Partners, you’ll be at the forefront of safeguarding our client’s facilities in Hollins, VA, and the surrounding areas, including Roanoke, Salem, and Vinton. Our multi-year project requires keen expertise and dedication to maintaining top-tier security standards. Your role will involve the hands-on installation and maintenance of cutting-edge security systems, ensuring that our client’s assets are protected around the clock. Your Daily Tasks as a Security Technician

Installation and Configuration

Every day, you’ll be responsible for installing, configuring, and troubleshooting a variety of security systems. This includes IP cameras, access control systems, motion detectors, and alarm systems at our commercial job sites. Your expertise will ensure that these systems are fully operational and meet the stringent requirements set by our clients and industry standards.

Cable Management

You’ll pull, terminate, and label low-voltage cables, ensuring that they are routed correctly and comply with site specifications. This task is crucial for maintaining the integrity and functionality of the security systems you install.

System Testing and Verification

Perform comprehensive on-site testing to confirm system functionality, connectivity, and power reliability. This involves rigorous testing procedures to ensure that every component of the system is working seamlessly.

Collaboration and Coordination

Work closely with project managers and general contractors to align installations with project timelines. Your ability to communicate effectively and coordinate with other team members is essential for the successful completion of each project phase.

Documentation and Client Training

Maintain accurate installation records and documentation. You’ll ensure that all systems meet customer and industry standards while providing training to clients on basic system operation and troubleshooting. This empowers them to handle minor issues and understand the capabilities of the security systems in place.

Safety and Site Maintenance

Adhere to safety protocols rigorously and maintain cleanliness and organization on job sites. Your commitment to safety ensures a secure working environment for yourself and your colleagues.

Additional Responsibilities

• Regularly update and maintain system software to ensure optimal performance.
• Conduct routine maintenance checks and repairs to preemptively address potential issues.
• Provide support for emergency repairs and system outages as required.

What You Need to Be a Security Technician

Experience and Skills

To thrive in this role, you should have 1-3 years of experience as a Security Technician. You must possess:

• Proven experience with security systems installation and maintenance.
• In-depth knowledge of cable routing and termination.
• Familiarity with camera systems and their operation.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
• Strong communication and organizational skills for effective collaboration and documentation.
