The Lead Security Technician at Prime Partners plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of our commercial construction projects in Westerville, OH, and neighboring areas like Dublin, Hilliard, and Gahanna. As a Lead Security Technician, you will be at the forefront of installing, managing, and maintaining advanced security systems on-site. This position is hands-on and requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and team leadership. Your expertise will contribute to the safety and security of various multi-year construction projects, making a significant impact on the community’s infrastructure.

Your Daily Tasks as a Lead Security Technician

As a Lead Security Technician, your day will start with organizing and leading a team of security technicians. You will assign daily tasks, ensuring each team member understands their responsibilities and the project’s scope of work. Your primary focus will be on the installation and commissioning of cutting-edge security systems, including access control, intrusion detection, CCTV/IP surveillance, and intercom systems.

You’ll be responsible for programming head-end security equipment, configuring NVRs, integrating card readers, and ensuring door hardware functions seamlessly. Your role will also include coordinating with IT departments and general contractors for network integration and structured cabling needs, ensuring all installations meet electrical codes and site safety requirements.

Conducting final walk-throughs and managing turnover documentation for clients will be part of your routine. Additionally, you will provide end-user training and ongoing technical support post-installation. Your daily tasks will also involve troubleshooting and resolving technical issues promptly, conducting regular maintenance of security systems, and updating project documentation to reflect any changes or redlines.

What You Need to Be a Lead Security Technician

To excel in this role, you must possess advanced knowledge of commercial security systems, including Lenel, Avigilon, Genetec, Bosch, and Honeywell. Proficiency in terminating and testing all types of low-voltage security wiring is essential. You should be well-versed in door hardware, relays, PoE configurations, and system networking. Leadership experience is crucial, as you’ll manage crews and interact with customers, inspectors, and engineers. An OSHA 30 certification is preferred, alongside the ability to produce redlines, as-builts, and commissioning reports.

We require at least 5+ years of field experience as a Lead Security Technician. Key skills include exceptional problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and a detail-oriented approach to project execution. A hands-on mentality and the ability to adapt to evolving project needs are vital for success in this role.
