Lead Security Technician Position Overview
As a Lead Security Technician with Prime Partners, you will be at the forefront of our technical operations. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include managing the installation and commissioning of advanced security systems, such as access control, intrusion detection, CCTV/IP surveillance, and intercom systems. You’ll operate in diverse environments, predominantly on new commercial construction sites, ensuring that all installations adhere to the highest standards.
You’ll lead a dedicated team of technicians, assigning daily tasks and supervising the project’s progress to meet scope and scheduling requirements. Core Lead Security Technician Responsibilities
Your role will encompass leading the installation and commissioning of security systems, ensuring they function seamlessly within the client’s infrastructure. You will:
- Oversee crews, delegate tasks, and maintain adherence to project schedules.
- Program and configure head-end security equipment, NVRs, card readers, and integrate door hardware.
- Conduct final walk-throughs, prepare turnover documentation, and ensure client satisfaction.
- Collaborate with IT departments and general contractors for network integration and structured cabling.
- Ensure compliance with electrical codes, site safety requirements, and client specifications.
- Provide thorough end-user training and offer ongoing technical support.
- Engage in advanced technical duties such as network troubleshooting, system diagnostics, and firmware updates.
- Implement regional project specifics, adapting solutions to meet local infrastructure challenges.
- Uphold rigorous safety protocols, ensuring all site activities adhere to OSHA standards and company safety policies.
Qualifications
To excel in this role, you must possess advanced knowledge of commercial security systems from brands like Lenel, Avigilon, Genetec, Bosch, and Honeywell. A deep understanding of terminating and testing low-voltage security wiring, door hardware, relays, PoE configurations, and system networking is essential. Leadership experience is crucial, as you will be managing crews and liaising with customers, inspectors, and engineers. An OSHA 30 certification is preferred. You must also be adept at producing redlines, as-builts, and commissioning reports.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Lead Security Technician is required.
- Essential certifications include NICET, BICSI, and manufacturer-specific credentials.
- Proficiency in technical knowledge related to security system integration and troubleshooting is necessary.
Tools & Equipment
Daily operations will require the use of specific tools such as multimeters, cable testers, and crimping tools. You will need to provide personal tools, including screwdrivers and pliers, while the company supplies specialized equipment like network analyzers and lift machinery.
Physical Requirements
