Lead Security Technician Position Overview
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
In the role of Lead Security Technician, you will oversee the installation and commissioning of advanced security systems, including access controls, intrusion detection, CCTV/IP surveillance, and intercom systems. You will manage daily operations, assign tasks to your crew, and ensure all work adheres to the project’s scope and schedule.

Core Lead Security Technician Responsibilities
Installation and Commissioning
Lead the installation and commissioning of comprehensive security systems on commercial new construction projects. This includes programming head-end security equipment, NVRs, card readers, and door hardware integrations.
Project Management
Oversee project crews, assign daily tasks, and ensure adherence to the project schedule. Conduct final walkthroughs and manage turnover documentation for clients.
Technical Coordination
Coordinate with IT departments and general contractors for network integration and structured cabling needs. Ensure compliance with electrical codes and site safety requirements, and provide end-user training and ongoing technical support post-installation.
Advanced Technical Duties
- Develop and implement customized security protocols tailored to specific client needs.
- Integrate advanced video analytics and AI-driven surveillance systems.
- Conduct in-depth system diagnostics and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance.
- Design and implement security system upgrades and expansions.

Qualifications
Experience and Knowledge
- Minimum of 5 years as a Lead Security Technician.
- Advanced knowledge of systems like Lenel, Avigilon, Genetec, Bosch, and Honeywell.
- Proficiency in terminating and testing low-voltage security wiring.
- Familiarity with door hardware, relays, PoE configurations, and system networking.
Leadership and Communication
Leadership experience in managing crews and interacting with customers, inspectors, and engineers is essential. You must be adept at producing redlines, as-builts, and commissioning reports.
Certifications
- Essential certifications such as NICET Level II or higher, and manufacturer certifications for systems like Lenel and Avigilon.
- OSHA 30 certification is preferred.
