What You’ll Do as a Lead Security Technician
As a Lead Security Technician at Prime Partners, you’ll be at the forefront of our security projects in Bartlett, TN, and its neighboring cities, like Lakeland, Germantown, and Arlington. This role is vital for ensuring the safety and security of our commercial construction sites. You’ll manage the installation and integration of security systems, blending technical expertise with leadership to drive our projects forward. Expect to lead from the front, setting the standard for quality and efficiency.
Your Daily Tasks as a Lead Security Technician
Installation and Commissioning
Your primary responsibility will be to spearhead the installation and commissioning of advanced security systems. This includes access control, CCTV/IP surveillance, intrusion detection, and intercom systems. You’ll ensure these systems are installed efficiently and effectively on new commercial construction sites.
Crew Management and Coordination
You’ll manage and direct skilled crew members, assigning daily tasks to ensure project timelines and scopes are met. Your leadership will be key in maintaining high standards of safety and performance. You’ll also coordinate with IT departments and general contractors to meet network integration and structured cabling needs.
Programming and Integration
Your day will frequently involve programming head-end security equipment, NVRs, card readers, and door hardware integrations. You’ll integrate these technologies seamlessly to create a cohesive security system that meets client specifications.
Compliance and Safety Oversight
You’ll ensure all installations comply with electrical codes and site safety requirements. Your role includes conducting final walk-throughs and preparing turnover documentation for clients, ensuring all systems are operational and meet contractual obligations.
Technical Support and Training
Post-installation, you’ll provide end-user training and ongoing technical support, ensuring clients are comfortable and satisfied with their new systems. You’ll also troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise, maintaining system integrity and customer trust.
Additional Responsibilities
On top of the above, you’ll regularly prepare as-builts, redlines, and commissioning reports. Your role will also include maintaining inventory of materials and tools, ensuring everything needed for the job is on hand and properly maintained.
What You Need to Be a Lead Security Technician
Technical Expertise
You should have advanced knowledge of commercial security systems, including brands like Lenel, Avigilon, Genetec, Bosch, and Honeywell. Mastery in terminating and testing low-voltage security wiring is essential.
Hands-On Abilities
Experience with door hardware, relays, PoE configurations, and system networking is crucial. You should be adept at producing redlines, as-builts, and commissioning reports to ensure project accuracy and compliance.
Leadership and Experience
A minimum of 5 years in the field as a Lead Security Technician is required. Leadership experience in managing crews, interacting with customers, and working with inspectors and engineers is necessary. Having an OSHA 30 certification is preferred.
