What You’ll Do as a Lead Fire Alarm Technician

As a Lead Fire Alarm Technician at Prime Partners, you will be at the forefront of our multi-year project in Collierville, TN. This role is essential for ensuring the successful installation, maintenance, and management of fire alarm systems across our projects. You will be working not only in Collierville but also in neighboring cities like Germantown, Bartlett, and Southaven. Your expertise will guide the team through daily challenges and ensure high standards in fire safety compliance.

Your Daily Tasks as a Lead Fire Alarm Technician

In your role, you will lead the fire alarm installation process from start to finish on large-scale commercial projects. This includes pre-wiring to the final inspection phase. You will:

  • Program Control Panels and Devices: Program fire alarm control panels (FACP) along with initiate and notification devices. You’ll also manage networked systems to ensure seamless integration.
  • Oversee Testing and Inspections: Conduct point-to-point testing, ensure compliance with NFPA 72 standards, and perform final acceptance testing with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
  • Mentor and Supervise: Train and oversee junior technicians, delegate tasks efficiently, and uphold quality control standards across all installations.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with general contractors, project managers, and fire marshals to ensure that all installations meet code requirements and project timelines.
  • Prepare Documentation: Create as-built drawings and maintain detailed installation records for turnover packages.
  • Troubleshooting and Upgrades: Handle advanced troubleshooting and facilitate system upgrades as needed.
  • Conduct Routine Maintenance: Perform routine checks and maintenance on existing systems to ensure they remain in optimal working condition.

What You Need to Be a Lead Fire Alarm Technician

To excel in this role, you must possess extensive experience with commercial fire alarm systems, including brands like EST, Notifier, Silent Knight, and Fire-Lite. Preferred candidates will have a NICET Level II certification or higher. You should have:

  • Expert Knowledge: A deep understanding of NFPA 70 and 72, and the ability to read complex electrical schematics and construction drawings.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership capabilities to manage crews effectively and coordinate with different teams.
  • Communication Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with inspectors, clients, and team members.
  • Hands-On Experience: A minimum of 5 years in the field as a Lead Fire Alarm Technician, showcasing your practical abilities and problem-solving skills.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in using industry-standard tools and software to enhance installation and maintenance processes.
