Lead Cable Technician Position Overview
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
As a Lead Cable Technician, you will play a pivotal role in the success of our projects. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include overseeing and executing complex cabling installations, ensuring each task aligns with our rigorous standards. You will lead teams in managing cabling projects from inception to completion, focusing on quality and efficiency.

Core Lead Cable Technician Responsibilities
Project Management
You will oversee structured cabling projects from pre-construction layout to final certification on large commercial job sites. This includes leading crews in pulling, routing, and terminating CAT5e/CAT6 and fiber optic cabling in MDFs/IDFs, terminating and labeling patch panels, jacks, and fiber enclosures, and testing and certifying all cabling using Fluke or equivalent test equipment.
Advanced Technical Duties
Beyond basic responsibilities, you will engage in advanced technical tasks such as designing and implementing complex cabling solutions, conducting fiber fusion splicing, and performing comprehensive OTDR testing to ensure optimal network performance.
Regional Project Specifics
Our projects include coordinating installations in high-rise buildings in Orlando and managing complex network infrastructures in the tech hubs of Altamonte Springs. Your expertise will be pivotal in adapting solutions to meet regional demands.
Safety Protocols

Qualifications
Experience and Certifications
We require a minimum of 4 years of experience as a Lead Cable Technician, with proven leadership in structured cabling projects. Proficiency with BICSI installation methods and TIA/EIA standards is essential, as is experience with Fluke DTX/DSX certification tools. Additional qualifications include:
- Strong blueprint reading and markup skills
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
- Preferred certifications: OSHA 30, Panduit, Leviton, CommScope
Technical Knowledge
A comprehensive understanding of fiber fusion splicing and OTDR testing is a plus, along with the ability to coordinate with IT, electrical, and GC teams to ensure seamless project execution.

Our Lead Cable Technicians utilize a range of specialized tools daily, including cable testers, termination tools, and fusion splicers. You will be expected to have your own set of personal tools, such as screwdrivers, pliers, and wire cutters.
