What You’ll Do as a Journeyman Electrician

As a Journeyman Electrician at Prime Partners, you’ll play a crucial role in our multi-year project in Vista, CA, with potential work in nearby cities such as Carlsbad, Oceanside, and San Marcos. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the seamless execution of electrical tasks on various commercial construction projects. Your expertise will be pivotal in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems to meet project specifications and safety standards.

Your Daily Tasks as a Journeyman Electrician

Installation and Layout

Your day will typically begin with reviewing project plans and preparing for the installation of complete electrical systems. You’ll plan, layout, and install power distribution, lighting, and energy management systems in commercial settings. Your ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, electrical schematics, and building plans will ensure precise installations that align with project requirements.

Conduit and Wiring Work

You’ll install various conduit systems, including EMT, rigid, and flex, and pull wire through these systems. The day might involve terminating connections for panels, switches, and outlets, requiring keen attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols. Your task will be to ensure these systems are robust, efficient, and compliant with the necessary codes.

Troubleshooting and Maintenance

A significant part of your role involves troubleshooting and repairing electrical issues to maintain operational safety and compliance. You’ll diagnose problems efficiently and implement solutions, ensuring all work is up to local, state, and national codes, while strictly following OSHA safety standards.

Additional Practical Tasks

• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems and components.

What You Need to Be a Journeyman Electrician

To thrive in this role, you must have a valid license from the CA Department of Industrial Relations and at least 5 years of experience as a Journeyman Electrician in commercial settings. You’ll need extensive experience in power systems, lighting, and controls, along with proficiency in operating specialized electrical tools and equipment.
