As a Journeyman Electrician at Prime Partners, you’ll be an integral part of our team, working on multi-year projects centered around Stone Mountain, GA, with assignments extending to neighboring cities such as Tucker, Lilburn, and Clarkston. Your role is pivotal in ensuring that our electrical systems are operational, safe, and efficient. You’ll be working in diverse settings that demand precision and expertise, particularly in mission-critical facilities like data centers, hospitals, and emergency response centers. Our projects require a pragmatic approach, with a strong emphasis on reliability and security.

Your Daily Tasks as a Journeyman Electrician

Electrical Installations and Maintenance

Your primary responsibility will be to perform electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs. You’ll be tasked with ensuring mission-critical facilities operate without interruption. This involves working with UPS systems, backup generators, switchgear, and battery storage units to maintain a consistent power supply.

Equipment Servicing and Inspections

A significant portion of your daily activities will include servicing various electrical components and conducting thorough inspections. You’ll utilize infrared thermography inspections and monitor power quality to prevent system failures. Part of your work will also involve installing grounding systems, PDUs, and structured cabling in high-uptime environments.

Collaboration and Optimization

You’ll collaborate with engineers and IT specialists to optimize electrical infrastructure. This means following strict operational protocols and redundancy procedures to meet industry standards for reliability and security. You’ll also engage in routine equipment testing, commissioning new installations, and troubleshooting electrical issues.

Additional Common Tasks

• Conduct regular safety audits and maintain compliance with electrical safety standards.
• Participate in the planning and execution of shutdowns and power upgrades.
• Provide support during emergency situations, ensuring quick and efficient resolution of electrical failures.

Qualifications to Be a Journeyman Electrician

Certification and Experience

To excel in this role, you must possess a valid Journeyman Electrician certification and have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the field, particularly with mission-critical electrical systems. A strong understanding of backup power infrastructure, redundancy principles, and emergency electrical procedures is essential.

Skill Set and Knowledge

You should be proficient with diagnostic tools, including power quality analyzers and thermal imaging devices. The ability to work in high-pressure, precision-demanding environments is crucial. Familiarity with NFPA 70E, IEEE power standards, and OSHA electrical safety guidelines is a must. Additionally, you should have strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to perform detailed inspections and repairs.
