Journeyman Electrician at Prime Partners

About This Journeyman Electrician Role

Hey there, I’m glad you took some time out of your day to chat. Let me tell you a bit about what it’s like working at Prime Partners. First off, being a Journeyman Electrician here is rewarding. We tackle a variety of projects, from outfitting new commercial buildings with the latest electrical systems to maintaining the systems that keep businesses running smoothly. Sure, there are challenges – like troubleshooting a tricky circuit or coordinating with other trades to meet tight deadlines. But the satisfaction of seeing a project come together is unbeatable. Just last month, we wrapped up a project at a local tech company, installing state-of-the-art lighting and power systems. Walking through the finished space, knowing we played a part, feels pretty darn good.

What Your Week Actually Looks Like

In a typical week, you’ll roll up your sleeves and dive into installing and maintaining commercial electrical systems. This includes everything from switchgear and transformers to lighting fixtures and power circuits. You’ll get hands-on with conduit, measuring, cutting, and bending EMT and rigid conduit for installations. Wire pulling, labeling, and termination will become second nature as you ensure everything meets NEC code requirements. Troubleshooting is part of the gig, using tools like multimeters to solve any issues that pop up. You’ll work closely with other trades – it’s a team effort to get installations done on time. Supervising apprentices is also key, guiding them on proper techniques and safety practices. And you’ll keep job sites organized and clean, sticking to safety and operational standards. Our team is close-knit, and we tackle everything from office buildings to retail spaces.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

To thrive here, you’ll need a valid journeyman electrician license and a solid grasp of NEC codes. Experience – about 3-5 years – is important, but practical skills matter more than paper qualifications. You should be comfortable with conduit bending and using electrical tools, and have strong troubleshooting skills. Leadership is essential too, as you’ll be managing apprentices and working within teams. Personality-wise, being a problem-solver, having a good sense of humor, and being reliable go a long way in this role.

Let’s talk perks, because Prime Partners offers some great ones. The salary is competitive, between $32.07 and $38.15 per hour, depending on your experience.
