What You’ll Do as a Journeyman Electrician
As a Journeyman Electrician at Prime Partners, you’ll play a crucial role in our multi-year projects in Aurora, CO, and nearby cities such as Centennial, Englewood, and Littleton. Your expertise will be essential in bringing electrical systems to life in high-rise office buildings and large-scale commercial developments. Your day-to-day work will be hands-on and dynamic, requiring a blend of technical skills and problem-solving abilities to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and to the highest standards.
Your Daily Tasks as a Journeyman Electrician
As a Journeyman Electrician, your day will be filled with a variety of tasks that are essential to the success of our projects. You’ll install and maintain advanced electrical systems, focusing on high-rise and commercial builds. You’ll handle precise routing, bending, and securing of conduit types like EMT, rigid, and PVC to support complex wiring layouts. Your role will involve assembling and installing critical components such as switchgear, distribution panels, and motor control centers.
You’ll be expected to read and interpret blueprints and specifications accurately, ensuring proper placement of electrical components. Conducting on-site load calculations for lighting and power systems will be a regular part of your role. You’ll also supervise apprentices during wiring and panel installations, ensuring they adhere to project timelines and safety standards. Common activities include testing electrical systems for functionality and safety, maintaining clear communication with other trades, and updating project documentation as needed. Troubleshooting and resolving electrical issues in newly installed systems, including power distribution and lighting controls, will also be a key responsibility.
What You Need to Be a Journeyman Electrician
To excel as a Journeyman Electrician, you’ll need to bring a robust set of skills and experiences to the table. Proficiency in advanced conduit bending techniques, including offsets and saddles, is essential. You’ll need to be skilled in using hand and power tools for installing electrical systems and have a strong ability to read and apply electrical blueprints and technical documentation. Experience in installing and maintaining lighting controls, motor controls, and distribution equipment is a must.
Your leadership skills will be crucial, as you’ll often lead teams and manage job site workflows to meet deadlines. You’re expected to have at least 5+ years of experience in the field as a Journeyman Electrician. Must-have skills include strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining safety standards on the job site.
Compensation
