Fire Alarm Technician Position Overview

Core Fire Alarm Technician Responsibilities

• Install and program fire alarm control panels, smoke detectors, strobes, and other system components for commercial new construction projects.
• Perform rigorous system testing, verification, and troubleshooting to ensure compliance with local and national fire safety standards.
• Collaborate with general contractors, electricians, and other trades to coordinate timely and efficient system installations.
• Maintain accurate records of all installations, inspections, and repairs.
• Adhere to safety protocols while working with sensitive and life-critical systems.
• Advanced technical duties include integrating fire alarm systems with building automation systems, conducting wireless fire alarm system installations, and performing remote diagnostics and programming.
• Projects in the region often involve working on state-of-the-art commercial facilities and high-rise buildings.
• Safety protocols include wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), following lockout/tagout procedures, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Fire Alarm Technician with a proven track record of successful installations and maintenance.
• Essential certifications include NICET Level II in Fire Alarm Systems, Utah State Fire Marshal License, and OSHA 10-Hour Safety Training.
• Extensive knowledge of NFPA codes, local fire codes, and regulatory standards.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues under pressure.
