What You’ll Do as a Fire Alarm Technician at Prime Partners
As a Fire Alarm Technician at Prime Partners, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our clients’ properties through the installation, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm systems. Our current multi-year project is based in Beverly Hills, CA, with additional opportunities in nearby cities such as West Hollywood, Santa Monica, and Culver City. Your expertise will be vital as we work on commercial new construction projects, making sure everything is up to code and functioning flawlessly.
Your Daily Tasks as a Fire Alarm Technician
Installation and Programming
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include installing and programming fire alarm control panels, smoke detectors, strobes, and other essential system components. You’ll be working primarily on commercial new construction projects, ensuring that every component is installed correctly and efficiently.
System Testing and Verification
Testing and verification of systems are crucial parts of your daily routine. You’ll perform rigorous system testing to make sure everything is operational and compliant with local and national fire safety standards. This includes running simulations and checks to ensure all components are communicating effectively.
Troubleshooting and Maintenance
When issues arise, your troubleshooting skills will come into play. You’ll be responsible for diagnosing and resolving technical issues quickly, often working under pressure to ensure systems are restored to full functionality.
Collaboration and Coordination
Working closely with general contractors and other trades, you’ll coordinate system installations to ensure they fit seamlessly into broader construction timelines. This will require effective communication and teamwork to keep projects on track.
Documentation and Record-Keeping
Maintaining accurate records of all installations, inspections, and repairs is a key part of your role. This documentation is vital for compliance and future maintenance work.
Adherence to Safety Protocols
While working with sensitive and life-critical systems, you’ll strictly adhere to safety protocols, ensuring both your safety and that of the team.
Additional Daily Activities
- Conduct routine maintenance checks on existing systems to preemptively identify potential issues.
- Provide on-site training to building staff on system operations and emergency procedures.
What You Need to Be a Fire Alarm Technician
Experience and Expertise
A minimum of 3+ years in the field as a Fire Alarm Technician is required. Your experience in installing and maintaining fire alarm systems, including programming and testing, will be indispensable. Familiarity with fire codes and regulatory standards is a must to ensure compliance and safety.
