Estimator Position Overview
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
As an Estimator with Prime Partners, you will be immersed in the intricacies of project estimation, from conducting meticulous plan take-offs to collaborating on Requests for Information (RFIs) with our project teams. Your day will involve detailed analysis of site and civil drawings, ensuring every aspect of our bid proposals is thorough and accurate.

Our Estimators tackle a wide array of projects, including commercial site development, infrastructure improvements, and earthwork. You’ll work in dynamic environments, ranging from bustling urban sites in Huntsville to expansive development projects in nearby cities such as Decatur and Athens.

You’ll be part of a collaborative team, working under the guidance of a Senior Estimator with over 20 years of experience. Our team structure fosters mentorship and shared learning, ensuring you have the support needed to excel.

Advanced Technical Duties
- Develop and refine cost models for complex civil engineering projects.
- Utilize AGTEK software to perform advanced dirt take-offs and 3D modeling.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and propose mitigation strategies.
Regional Project Specifics
Our projects in the Huntsville region often involve collaboration with local municipalities and adherence to regional regulatory standards, ensuring that all estimates are compliant and competitive.
Safety Protocols
Maintaining safety is paramount. Estimators must ensure that all bids incorporate the latest safety and regulatory compliance standards, promoting a culture of safety on every job site.
Qualifications
Experience and Education
- A minimum of 3-10 years as an Estimator is required.
- A degree in Civil Engineering is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Experience with a Site Development contractor is highly preferred.
Essential Certifications
- Certification in Cost Estimation is preferred.
- OSHA 30-hour Construction certification is mandatory.
Technical Knowledge
- Proficiency in MS Outlook and the full MS Office suite.
- Familiarity with AGTEK or similar software is highly desired.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are essential.

- Estimators use laser measuring tools and digital calipers for precision.
- Proficiency in AGTEK software is necessary for dirt take-offs.
