Estimator at Prime Partners
A Day in the Life of an Estimator at Prime Partners
Welcome to Prime Partners, where we are embarking on a multi-year project in Dayton, OH, with additional opportunities in cities like Kettering, Beavercreek, and Huber Heights. As an Estimator, you play a crucial role in the success of our projects, providing accurate cost assessments and ensuring we remain competitive. Your day-to-day will be dynamic, engaging, and essential to our operations.
Your Daily Tasks as a Estimator
Conducting Detailed Plan Take-Offs
Your morning might start with detailed plan take-offs, where you’ll analyze construction drawings to extract critical information. This task involves calculating the quantities of materials required, ensuring every detail is captured for accuracy.
Gathering Vendor Quotes and Pricing
A significant part of your day will involve reaching out to our network of vendors. You’ll gather quotes and interpret product specifications, ensuring that all pricing aligns with project budgets. This requires a keen eye for detail and strong negotiation skills.
Collaborating on RFIs and Value Engineering
You’ll work closely with team members to create and manage Requests for Information (RFIs), aiming to clarify project details and enhance design efficiency. Offering value engineering recommendations is vital, helping us optimize project costs without compromising quality.
Preparing Comprehensive Bid Proposals
In the afternoon, you might focus on preparing comprehensive bid proposals. You’ll analyze site/civil drawings and project requirements to develop cost estimates that are both competitive and reflective of our high standards.
Maintaining Communication and Compliance
Communication is key. You’ll maintain clear lines with project managers, vendors, and subcontractors, ensuring everyone is aligned. Upholding safety and regulatory compliance on all job sites is non-negotiable, and you’ll be an advocate for these standards.
Additional Daily Activities
- Conduct site visits to verify conditions and gather additional data.
- Update and manage project cost databases to reflect current market trends.
- Assist in post-bid evaluations and negotiations to refine submitted proposals.
What You Need to Be a Estimator
Experience and Expertise
We require 3-10 years of experience as an Estimator, specifically in commercial Site Development and Earthwork. Prior experience with a Site Development contractor is highly preferred. Essential Skills
- Proficiency in MS Outlook and the full MS Office suite.
- Familiarity with AGTEK or similar dirt take-off software.
- Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines.
