What You’ll Do as an Electrical Project Manager
As an Electrical Project Manager at Prime Partners, you’ll be at the helm of our electrical construction projects in Lafayette, IN, and its surrounding areas, including West Lafayette, Frankfort, and Crawfordsville. Your role will be crucial in ensuring the successful execution of multiple-year projects, leading teams, and managing all facets of electrical projects. You’ll be the key player in delivering projects that meet our high standards of quality, safety, and timeliness.
Your Daily Tasks as an Electrical Project Manager
Project Planning and Execution
Your day will start with reviewing project blueprints and specifications to ensure you have a clear understanding of the project’s objectives. You’ll develop detailed project schedules, allocate resources effectively, and ensure that teams are aligned towards achieving project milestones.
Coordination and Communication
You’ll facilitate daily communication with clients, general contractors, engineers, and subcontractors to align on project goals and resolve any issues that arise. Your ability to communicate clearly and effectively will be vital in maintaining project momentum and stakeholder satisfaction.
Design and Compliance Oversight
You’ll review and approve electrical designs and material orders to ensure they meet the required specifications and codes. Your expertise will ensure that all designs comply with the latest industry standards and regulations.
Site Visits and Quality Assurance
Regular site visits will be a staple of your routine. You’ll monitor project progress, enforce safety protocols, and ensure high-quality workmanship. Your presence on-site will be critical in maintaining project integrity and addressing any on-the-ground challenges.
Documentation and Reporting
You’ll manage project documentation meticulously, including contracts, change orders, and progress reports. Keeping stakeholders updated with accurate and timely information will be a key part of your role.
Additional Responsibilities
Conducting risk assessments and implementing mitigation strategies to anticipate and address potential project challenges. You’ll also mentor and guide team members, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
What You Need to Be an Electrical Project Manager
Experience and Knowledge
You should have at least 5+ years of experience managing commercial electrical projects from inception to completion. A robust understanding of electrical systems, construction processes, and local codes is essential.
Skills and Tools
Proficiency in project management tools, such as Procore or Primavera P6, is a must. You’ll need exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills to manage multiple large-scale projects in a fast-paced environment. Hands-on abilities in problem-solving and decision-making will set you apart.
