What You’ll Do as a Cable Technician

At Prime Partners, our Cable Technicians play a vital role in ensuring seamless communication infrastructure across our projects in Seymour, IN, and the surrounding areas, including Columbus, North Vernon, and Madison. As a Cable Technician, you’ll be at the heart of our operations, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting structured cabling systems. Your work will be critical to the success of our multi-year projects, ensuring that every connection is secure and every signal is strong. Your Daily Tasks as a Cable Technician

In your day-to-day work, you’ll be installing, testing, and troubleshooting structured cabling systems, including CAT5e, CAT6, and fiber optic cables. You’ll perform cable terminations on patch panels, jacks, and network devices, ensuring all connections meet performance and compliance standards. Using industry-standard tools, you’ll conduct cable testing and certification to guarantee top-notch quality. Your work will also involve installing cable pathways such as conduits, raceways, and J-hooks, all while adhering to safety codes and blueprints.

Beyond these tasks, you’ll engage in regular maintenance checks to preemptively identify potential issues and ensure network reliability. Documenting your work is key, so you’ll keep accurate records of installations and maintenance activities. Collaborating with project managers and clients, you’ll ensure deadlines are met and quality standards are upheld, making you an essential part of the project’s success.

What You Need to Be a Cable Technician

To thrive in this role, you need hands-on experience with structured cabling installations and a knack for troubleshooting. Proficiency in cable testing, termination, and certification procedures is essential. You’ll need to interpret blueprints and work efficiently in active commercial construction sites. A minimum of 2 years in the field as a Cable Technician is required.

Compensation

We offer a competitive salary range of $24.38 to $30.05 per hour, commensurate with experience.
